HEAVY SCORING. — 609 FOR SEVEN WICKETS.

The two days' play in this match at the U.S. (Officers') Ground, Portsmouth, was again productive of heavy run-getting. After scoring on Friday 609 for seven wickets the Rovers declared their innings closed on Saturday morning. At the end of their first innings the Services were exactly 400 to the bad, and had to follow on. The Rovers had only five seconds to spare when their victory was achieved over the Services by an innings and 48 runs. Score as appended:—
