In 2009, Etan Cohen wrote a comedic take on Sherlock Holmes for Sony with Sacha Baron Cohen as Sherlock Holmes and Will Ferrell as Dr. Watson.
But in the meanwhile, Guy Ritchie was launching hi movie Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr.. So Etan Cohen decided not to continue afraid of being accused to copy Ritchie's movie.
